As American soldiers fought terrorism in Afghanistan, a subtle but significant change occurred in the Army’s operations.
When soldiers first arrived in November 2001, the military supplied them in much the same way it had supported past military operations: by shipping the supplies its leaders thought would be required, and storing them nearby —in this case, in Uzbekistan.
