ABSTRACT

Protection and enhancement of the environment is a well-recognized priority among populations of the developed world. Production agriculture is an important factor relative to the environment. Water pollution is the most potentially damag­ ing and widespread concern in regard to production agriculture, including the poultry industry. Although poultry producers perceive themselves as friendly to the environment, there are recognized improvements in current practices that can be made and a further need for new processes to be developed that will enhance and/or slow degradation of the environment.
