ABSTRACT
THE Process Safety Management Standard (PSM) was promulgated by OSHA and has been in effect since Feb ruary 1992. All covered facilities were to be in compliance by May 1997. The regulation serves to protect workers from accidents due to the release of highly hazardous chemicals (i.e., those chemicals listed under the regulation). Note that USEPA has adopted PSM as a major component of its new risk management plan.
