ABSTRACT

Millet is a generic term for five genera (panicum, setaria, echinochloa, pennisetum, and paspalum) in the Panicea family and eleusine genus in the Chlorideae family. Barnyard grass {Echinochloa crus-galli L.), finger millet {Eleu­ sine coracana Gaertn.), foxtail millet {Setaria italica Beauv.), koda or ditch millet (Paspalum serobiculatum), pearl or cattail millet {Pennisetum typhoideum Rich.), and Proso millet {Panicum miliaceum L.) are grown in India, China, and other Asian countries.
