ABSTRACT

Conversion factors are used to change measurements or calculate values from one unit of measure to another. S In making the conversion from one unit to another, you must know two tilings:

(1) The exact number that relates the two units (2) Whether to multiply or divide by that number

For example, in converting from inches to feet, you must know that there are 12 in. in 1 ft, and you must know whether to multiply or divide the number of inches by 0.08333 (i.e., 1 in. = 0.08 ft).
