The natural quality of groundwater [URL Ref. No. 1, 12, 14, 26, 35, 37] is affected by many things (Mayer, 1996). Among the most important relating to chemical and micro­ biological changes are geological characteristics and cli­ matic conditions [e.g., temperature, rainfall (Pye et al., 1983; Hem, 1959, 1970, 1985; Matthess, 1982; Krauskopf, 1967; Boettner and Grunder, 1968)].
