ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to present methodologies for the grassroots design and the upgrade of sensor networks, with the goal of achieving a certain degree of estimability for specific variables. After reviewing sensor location goals, the first part of the chapter discusses the design of linear networks. Methods to design networks for bilinear systems are discussed afterward.
