The new management buzzword these days seems to be “enterprise,” meaning “whole business.” This is not a new concept to those who have been preaching and practicing systems thinking, or the systems approach, for years. But the idea of managing completely integrated systems is new to some people. However, as companies recognize the importance of managing whole systems in an integrated way, rather than isolated departments or divisions, they begin searching for a way to grapple with the integration problem.
