ABSTRACT
Aquatic plant with creeping rhizome. Stems long, reaching water surface. Leaves long-petiolate, floating on surface, leaf blade orbicular or orbicularelliptical, cordately incised at base, 3-10 cm in diam., with fine glandular brownish specks beneath. Flowers on long pedicels, with scalelike bracts at base, in umbellate inflorescence, located in leaf axils. Calyx partite almost up to base into 5 lanceolate lobes. Corolla bright yellow, twice longer than calyx. Petals (15) 20-25 mm long, deeply split into obovate lobes, emarginate at tip and fimbriately incised along margin. Hair clusters present at base of anther filaments; 5 appendages alternating with fimbriately incised stamens seen in corolla tube. Capsule ovate, flattened, 2.5-3.5 cm long. Seeds oval, flattened, with broad border, long-ciliate along margin.
