ABSTRACT

Rhizome woody, branched. Sterns erect, few (20-35 cm tall). Entire plant whitish tomentose due to a large amount of soft adherent hairs. Leaves entire; lower leaves oblong-obovate or oblong-elliptical, gradually narrowed toward base into a petiole; middle and upper leaves sessile, lanceolate-linear or linear, 2-6 cm long, 2-5 mm broad, subobtuse, quite often with brown chondroid denticle at tips. Anthodia subglobose, 5-6 mm broad, gathered at tip of stem in a compact corymbose panicle; involucre bright lemon-yellow (sometimes orange) in colour; its outer bracts ovate, inner bracts spatulate, obtuse, rigid-scarious upward, glabrous, lustrous; in the lower half, covered by outer glumes, shaggy white-tomentose. Corolla orange-coloured, covered in upper part with gold-coloured glandules; hairs of pappus nearly as long as pappus, yellowish, serrate. Achenes oblong, 0.5-0.7 mm long, covered with glandules.
