Eucalyptus pilularis. These vacuoles also possess high levels of potassium. Sulphur too occurred in higher levels in P-rich vacuoles than in the cytoplasm. Vacuoles are also rich in S containing amino acids/peptides. Hyphal tips may contain P-rich vacuoles, but are not rich in S content (Cole, 1998). Vacuoles of hartig net and sheath generally possess greater quantities of P than in root cells. We may realize that root cell vacuoles are larger but variable; hence, the total P held per vacuole or cell varies (Ashford et al. 1999).
