Rhizome short, erect or suberect. Scales firm., narrow, entire with cordate base, multicellular hairs present with the scales and variously on the fronds. Lamina simple-pinnate; pinnae deeply lobed, lobes ± crenate or dentate. Veins all free, once or twiced forked, basal basiscopic vein in each lobe springing from the base of costule, basiscopic branch of basal acroscopic vein passing to a tooth in the sinus between two lobes, tooth projecting out of the plane of the lamina; unicellular glands absent on lamina and from sporangium stipes. Sori on acroscopic branch of each vein, terminal or subterminal. Indusia reniform., sometimes asymmetric.
