This saffron is also one of the most similar to cultivated saffron. The type specimen of this plant has been identified in Kurdistan area in Iran (16). ABSTRACT

This specimen is found in areas of Azarbayejan, Gilan, Rostam abad, Tonekabon, Kalardasht, and gangale Golestan between 10002000m altitudes, among woody bushes, ranches, and grasslands. Flowering time is from September till November. This saffron is also diploid and 2n = 12 choromosomes (23).
