ABSTRACT

Laser scanning confocal microscopy (LSCM) may produce images of high quality from fluorescing cells. The images of plant secreting cells, which excrete allelochemicals, or plant cells, which serve as acceptors of allelochemicals, may be changed in allelopathic relations that are registered by this technique. The advantages of the technique are: (i) 3-channel simulta neous detection that permits to see images excited by 3 different wavelengths light from laser and to receive common complicated interference image of the object; (ii) the possibility to have increased depth of penetration for receiving 20 visual slices (optical sections) or the complete volume (the information must be also quantitatively extracted); (iii) interchangeable filters; (iv) Graphical User Interface and production of accurate computer models as well as mathematical analysis; (v) pattern analysis of the structure.
