Consequently, many governing bodies adopted an official policy o f non interference. Most notable was the European Union, who officially decided to not even consider any significant Internet regulation for several years. This lib eral stance towards the Internet, coupled with its attractive bandwidth, led many would-be competitors to focus their attentions on the Internet.
