ABSTRACT
Let’s start with the most visible example o f this in the telecom world. It started in 1959, at the New York W orld ’s Fair. AT&T demonstrated a working telephone system that added two-way video to the system. Now you could not only talk to people, but you could see them at the same time. AT&T optim isti cally predicted that this new “ Picturephone” system would be in widespread use within a few years.
