ABSTRACT

As with any type of cooling system, the care and attention provided in operation and maintenance have a significant influence on the system's performance and reliability, as well as its operating and maintenance costs and longevity. Generally speaking, most operating and maintenance (O&M) persons will be more familiar with chilled water cool storage systems than ice storage systems. However, in either case, long-time habits may need correcting. Most O&M personnel are used to operate conventional systems in response to cooling demand. Significantly different concerns are present when cool storage is employed. Applying "standard operating procedures* will result in unacceptable system performance.
