ABSTRACT
FEM deals with a large number of linear algebraic equations, which can be conveniently expressed in matrix form. Matrices are also amenable to computer programming. Knowledge of matrix algebra is essential to understand and solve problems in FEM. A brief review of matrix algebra is given below for a good understanding of the remaining text.
