ABSTRACT

Mistake proofing is an approach for achieving defect-free services and products. It is based on a quality system known as Zero Quality Control (ZQC).* Zero refers to the goal of this approach: to make products and deliver services with zero defects. In other words, it is a way of building quality into processes or integrating quality directly into standard work. It is a core element of autonomation, the second principle of lean management (see Chapter 2).
