ABSTRACT

Taiwan is becoming a ~ountry more oriented towards tourism and leisure businesses. These transformations resulted from the new twoday weekends policy that began from 1996, the emigration of major factories to lower labor cost countries, especially mainland China, and the congenital advantage of abundant ecological resources (e.g., lofty mountains, hot springs, lakes, rivers and creeks) and diverse cultural resources (e.g., historical destinations, folk arts, festival celebrations, and regional delicacies).
