Sustainable forestry is a logical consequence of global environmen tal awareness and the long-term concerns foresters have had with sus taining wood resources. Sustainable forestry needs to include global, national, regional, and local perspectives. Forests are not distributed equally in the world, but the resources and the concern over their sustainability need to be shared because travel and trade connect the world and because air and water pollution as well as other forest values affect all parts of the Earth.
