ABSTRACT
This chapter attempts an overview of the challenges and opportunities in bringing remote sensing for agriculture to the market. It also focuses on visible-infrared (VNIR) systems recognizing methods and instruments have been well established for some time, and these form the basis for sound commercial implementation. It deals mainly with operational issues so the treatment of spectral characteristics is superficial in order to deal more thoroughly with the practical application and integration of the technology.
