ABSTRACT

Often in the design of isolation systems it is important to be able to determine the isolator characteristic when there is incomplete information about the parameters of the object to be isolated. This is the case, for example, when designing aircraft landing gears, since the mass of the aircraft with passengers and cargo is not known precisely. This is in contrast to Chapter 4, where we considered problems of optimal shock isolation for the case where the external disturbance was not fully specified and the optimal isolator characteristic was calculated for the worst disturbance.
