ABSTRACT

The development of training and education relating to HIV and AIDS in the workplace remains an issue which many organisations are reluctant to tackle. This is surprising considering the fact that HIV/AIDS within the workplace has such far reaching consequences (including increased stress, fear and discrimination) for both the person living with HIV or AIDS, their colleagues and the organisation. Such consequences can be diverse, ranging from increased fear amongst the employees, which may lead to discrimination or stress related problems, to more serious incidents, such as refusal of fellow employees to work alongside an employee living with, or even suspected of living with, HIV or AIDS.
