ABSTRACT

The addition of a stabilizing agent increases the strength of lightweight treated soil. However, because this strength is far lower than the strength of structural concrete materials, it is likely to be appropriate to classify the lightweight treated soil as a soil. It is, therefore, assumed that the properties of lightweight treated ground are almost equivalent to the ground of stiff clays except for its lightweight characteristics. Therefore, the designing of lightweight treated ground is carried out using the same method and procedures as clay ground. Details of the various design parameters used for lightweight treated ground are presented in section 3.2.
