There are few areas that compare with clinical chemistry in the variety of analytes it must consider. Substances that must be measured in this field range from small ions and organic compounds to proteins, viruses, and cells. There is also a wide range of samples that must be examined, such as urine, blood, cerebrospinal fluid, and tissue samples.
