3.1. INTRODUCTION

The verification of data for finite element models of thin-walled structures and the avoidance of numerical difficulties is of increasing importance. A number of verification checks are possible and will be discussed. They are based on both theoretical and empirical studies. Most of the checks can be automated to enhance the reliability of its finite element codes.
