ABSTRACT

On two positions of the Northeast Atlantic more than 21 000 TBq n/gamma-activity and more than 500 TBq a-activity of low-level radioactive waste have been dumped (1). The stations, at which water samples have been taken from vertical profiles down to the bottom, are shown in fig. 1. Especially the long-lived nuclides Cs 137, Sr 90, and Tritium are used as tracer nuclides, because the activity of these nuclides gave the highest contribution to the waste. Plutonium was determined in vertical profiles at three positions.
