ABSTRACT

The growing use of fluidised bed combustion (FBC) for generation of electrical power and heat results in a large increase of the amount of residues (fly ash and spent sorbent). These solid residues have very different properties from those of fly ash from conventional power plants. Therefore the characterisation of the FBC residues, with respect to their safe disposal and to their eventual utilisation, is of prime importance.
