ABSTRACT
Protection of the environment was the main topic of the meeting. This important issue deserves serious attention since it is unacceptable that the environment should become more and more endangered because of the expected increase in coal consumption for power or heat generation. The general trend in strengthening regulations leads to a continuing effort in developing sound data bases on pollutant emissions and in improving the efficiencies or decreasing the cost of pollution control equipment.
