ABSTRACT
In 1983 VAWT Ltd recognised that a substantial market was developing worldwide for medium sized wind turbines both for grid connected use and operating in parallel with diesel engines. It was decided therefore to utilise the innovative technology being developed for large straight bladed vertical axis wind turbines to demonstrate a commercial derivative rated at 100kW which could subsequently be marketed worldwide.
