ABSTRACT
To show the main features of the behaviour of internally pressurized heads, an ellipsoidal shell is studied. The example has been previously investigated by Bushnell40 and the data are given in Fig. 9.11. The finite element code developed by the authors has been employed to obtain geometrically linear and non-linear primary paths, plus the bifurcation loads from them. The finite element discretization (fifteen elements) is also shown in Fig. 9.11.
