ABSTRACT
For materials where the second source of energy dissipation is the most important, one can apply Dugdale type of model where crack-tip singularity is eliminated. For concrete, energy dissipation in formation of microcracks ahead of an advancing crack has been expressed in terms of strain softening behavior and a fixed microcrack band by Bazant and Oh (3).
