ABSTRACT

Computational procedures outlined in fig.l have hccn programmed for computer simulation. For a river system with flood problems a number of different alternative tlo<Kl control schemes can be proposed. Multipurpose reservoirs, channel improvements, diversions, levees and flood walls are structural measures that can reduce the effects of tlood which can be handled by the model. The determination of the optimum structural measure sizes for a proposed lloo<fcontrol scheme is the objective of the computational routine in MALFLOOD. With various different alternative schemes under investigation, this further leads into the selection process of the best alternative tlo<Kl control scheme based on Benefit Cost Ratio and Net Bencfil'i as computed by MALFLOOD.
