ABSTRACT

Irriqation schedulinq and proper manurinq, proper in time and amount, are the most important decisions amonq the manaqement practices. They depend upon the real status of soil moisture and nutrient deficit, repectively. While irriqation schedules are influenced mainly by weather variables such as rainfall, temperature, evaporation etc, alonq with availability of water and plant response, fertilizer schedules may be based on the type of crop and soil, staqe of qrowth and controlling environment. Thus, these management practices require subjective and judgemental decisions which would avoid water stress due to excess or under irrigation and nutrient deficit or surplus due to improper doses.
