The class of examples that is discussed below is based on a special one-dimensional similarity solution of (0.1) that is discussed in more detail in [3]. This solution was first given in [10] in a different form. For problems of the form (0.4) with a(t) — ra/(T(\ — a)), similarity solutions in one space dimension were derived formally in [12] and are discussed in detail in [5], [11], and [16] and in references given there.
