ABSTRACT
Alcantara et al. produced an interesting study which raises not for the first time the issue of whether butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) has a role in lipoprotein metabolism.
Results of some interesting new techniques have been reported, including gene expression in atherosclerotic lesions (Hiltunen et al.) and nuclear magnetic reson ance spectroscopy to detect small low-density lipoproteins (LDL) (Kuller et a l) and the assay of highly sensitive C-reactive protein (CRP) (van der Meer et al.) in clinical studies.
