ABSTRACT

COLLABORATION MEANS WORKING TOGETHER. In the context of networks and remote workers, it means almost anything from e-mail to groupware to realtime conferencing. Collaboration, as it relates to teleconferencing, refers to the combination of voice communications (point-to-point and multipoint) with PC-oriented graphics, document sharing, and data. The voice portion of the communication takes place over ordinary telephone lines (POTS), and the data portion may occur over a variety of networks such as LANS, WANS, ISDN, ATM, the Internet, and POTS. The result is an enhanced teleconference in which images are created, exchanged, shared, and discussed.
