ABSTRACT

As it was mentioned above in Section 4.1, the net current through a plasma radically changes the evolution scenario of large scale inhomogeneities. In contrast to the standard diffusion process, when an initial inhomogeneity is leveled over the whole space, the nonlinearity of the problem usually leads to steepening of some parts of die partial density profiles. It was noticed as early as more than century ago, with respect to electrolytes [1] and [2], that this phenomenon has a profound hydrodynamic analogy in the widely known phenomenon of overturn of smooth profiles and shock formation [3 j.
