ABSTRACT
Itinerant magnetism is closely linked with electronic structure and the latter with the local environment. Thus, the study of magnetism on rough surfaces and over layers involves the study both of the electronic structure and the possible surface morphologies. The two are interdependent. In this chapter, we shall study both aspects: growth models which lead to surface morphologies and the electronic and magnetic structures that result on these surfaces.
