ABSTRACT
Stratified deposits such as coal, limestone, chalk, gypsum, salt, sedimentary iron ore, sandstone, slate etc. have been and are worked by partial extraction methods. In this method of mining only part of the deposit is removed the remainder being left in place to support the roof of the workings.
