ABSTRACT
Before any mineral deposit is worked, there has to be an investigation to assess its economic feasibility, that is, to determine whether there is sufficient quantity of acceptable material to make extraction worthwhile (Smith and Collis, 2001). The investigation should provide data relating to the thickness and extent of the deposit, the depth over which it occurs, any variation within it, and the geological conditions, notably the geological structure and hydrogeology, involved.
