ABSTRACT
Following the general discussion in Section 16.3, the speed at which a driver travels
depends on the driver’s:
* vehicle’s characteristics,
* travel motivations,
* personal characteristics, particularly with respect to risk-taking,
* perception of the safety, alignment, and comfort of the road,
* perception of the chance of an unexpected event occurring,
* perception of the level to which the legal limit is enforced,
* assessment of the legal speed limit, and
* self-imposed speed limit.
