ABSTRACT
We have discussed previously the cover to bars, or groups of bars, and have noted that this is not only for durability but for satisfactory bond. We also said that sufficient cover should be allowed for proper compaction of the concrete. Again, to allow for proper compaction and to enable the development of proper bond we have to consider the minimum distance between bars.
