ABSTRACT
THIS GLOSSARY presents some of the terminology of dynamicalsystems theory that commonly appears in discussions of chaos. It is addressed primarily to the nonspecialist. It is intended to give the reader a feeling for what each concept is all about, and on this account the definitions appear in descriptive and sometimes colloquial form rather than in standard mathematical language. Some of the definitions lack mathematical precision, but the specialist should encounter little difficulty in converting them to rigorous statements.
