ABSTRACT

The choice of model scale is usually in the nature of a judicious compromise, based on a consideration of such factors as laboratory facilities, economics, and the standards of accuracy required. Smallscale pilot models may give useful guidance in planning a larger model. A valuable means of detecting scale effect is to construct models to different scales and to compare the results.
