ABSTRACT

Abstract To find a rapid alternative for measuring the water/cement-ratio in fresh concrete, H B G and C E M I J (cement manufacturer) made a test program with nuclear measuring equipment (in use for measuring the density and water content in soils) in comparison with two drying methods: drying with a frying pan on a gascooker and drying with a micro-wave oven. Series of mixes with two types of cement, with water/cement-ratios between 0.40 and 0.70 and with several admixtures have been tested. The results of the tests will be presented.
