ABSTRACT
Abstract Development of the strength and E-modulus of young concrete is linked with the hydration of cement. Hydration is accompanied by the generation of heat. The state-of-the-art on these phenomena has been gathered in a linked set of compute rized algorithms; the CHCS Environment. Results on adiabatic tests of mixes have been compiled in a data-base which is linked to the calculation modules. The CHCS system is consulted in the work design stage to compare pouring and stripping proce dures, the effects of artificial cooling or heating, the use of different mixes and types of cement. A special adiabatic test has been developed to define and measure heat generation and strength development of different proposed mixes for incorporation in the data base.
