ABSTRACT

Air quality monitoring may be undertaken for a number of reasons, but essentially it is to determine the occurrence, distribution and concentration of pollutants. Monitoring can also assist in demonstrating whether or not there is a significant risk of an A Q M strategy objective being exceeded in a relevant location, and to enable potential air quality management areas ( A Q M A ) to be identified. Whatever the purpose of the exercise the over-riding consideration is to ensure that the samples and measurements obtained provide adequate and accurate data for the intended purpose.
