ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the strategies for examining tasks, using HTA, are developed. The chapter will first consider three main ways in which goals or operations are examined. It will then show how these are used within a framework for task analysis. By working within this framework, a task is explored in progressively greater detail until it is understood sufficiently. Hierarchical diagrams are an effective way of representing theprodtlct of this examination. However, the real power of HTA resides with this process of investigation.
